Hi Rob,
I found your blogs to be delightful and genuine~ thank you. Stumbled into your site serendipitously when i googled Autism Sauvie Island Farming. Seems like a strange combination, but i am a Montessori teacher who specializes in children with autistism, and am considering moving from Lake Oswego to Sauvie Island with my peafowl and two horses (Trained to work with autistic children).

If i ever find the time, i'll have to set up a blog and website. Yours is lovely. Until then i can only be found on facebook.

You and your wife are so informed and loving and wonderful for Sam! My best to you all,

hi rob, i came across a yelp conversation ‘babies in brewpubs’ and something you said grabbed me regarding taking the kids out to all kinds of establishments. we follow the same. each winter and summer, i organize an ‘if you can make it, come’ series of saturay afternoon get togethers. sometimes there are just a few of us, sometimes there are 20 of us, including many kids. the kids are well behaved enough and i cant think of a time where the group ruined anyone’s day. my question for you: what brewpubs, beer spots, etc do you recommend for gatherings such as this. i appreciate your time and enjoyed your post.

as a references, some spots that have worked well for us: hopworks, rouge, lompoc (divsion location), several of the mcmennamins, bridgeport ale house, alameda.

thanks much

I love the video! Thank you so much for sharing with me.

I definitely share some of your feelings about Halloween. I think back to what Halloween was for our generation and feel sad that many kids don't know what door to door trick or treating is (amongst other traditions)!

I was always scared when I tried to teach safety skills to kids and their parents: Wearing something reflective/having a flashlight and checking candy. After checking the kids' candy a couple of years ago, my friend's daughter asked me, "Aunty, why do you check our candy"? When I told her to make sure that any wrappers weren't open or tampered with. She replied, "Oh Aunty, you don't have to waste your time checking the candy. The chronics wouldn't give up their perfectly good drugs for us"! :)

Dear Jen,
Julie Shaw pointed me in your direction and I can really sympathize with the "illusion of inclusion" that you are living! There are others like us out there, and it is worth finding them! I have some resources in my blog that you might appreciate having, but no pressure about reading it. I wanted to reach out to you and let you know you are not alone!
Peace,
